How can we transform these imaginations into something tangible? What can we create (a workshop, exhibition, publication, artwork, ritual, policy proposal, prototype, or other expression) that allows others to experience and engage with these futures?

What do futures where humans and more-than-human beings can live in safety, reciprocity, and care look like?
Many philosophies, movements, and communities have been imagining them for generations. Indigenous worldviews, Solarpunk, Afrofuturism, Arab Futurism, and many others offer powerful ways of thinking beyond the dominant narratives of extraction and separation.
Throughout the cohort, we will learn from voices rooted in these traditions and explore how our imaginations can join forces to cultivate futures grounded in justice, regeneration, and collective liberation.
Design Reparations, Humanitarian Designers, UX for Change, Design Changemakers, and Inclusive Design Jam bring together their passion, experience, and unique perspectives to curate this collective journey. Together, we transform grief and disappointment into imagination, and imagination into concrete manifestations of change: exhibitions, books, policy proposals, entrepreneurial projects, poems, rituals, or anything else that helps make new futures visible, tangible, and shareable.

When we came together before
At the beginning of 2026 we organised 2 online events that inspired the creation of this Cohort.
In only 90 minutes online, the group came up with incredible representations, poems, ideas, visuals. Here a selection of that work:

What exactly will I do during these four months?
You'll meet with a small group (up to 15 people) six times over four months. Each session blends grounding practices, creative exercises, storytelling from visionary cultures like Solar Punk and Indigenous Knowledge, and collaborative work toward tangible outcomes whether that's zines, videos, proposals, or other creations. Between sessions, you should allocate around 2 hours weekly exploring, reflecting, and developing your contributions.
When will the Cohort take place?
We will launch the crowdfunding campaign in August 2026 and, if we reach the minimum support needed to make the Cohort happen, we aim to begin the Cohort in September 2026.
The exact dates will be confirmed once the Cohort is formed and we have coordinated availability across the group.
Who should apply? Do I need prior experience?
Anyone genuinely curious about building collective, just and ecological futures belongs here. No design background, no academic credentials required. We're looking for people who care about justice, equity, regeneration, and questioning how our world works and who want to imagine alternatives alongside others. Your perspective, wherever it comes from, is an asset.
Why do I have to "apply" and not directly sign up?
We ask people to apply because the Cohort is a carefully held collective space. We want to bring together a group with diverse perspectives, experiences, and ways of imagining, while creating the conditions for trust, connection, and meaningful collaboration. The selection process is about shaping the group dynamic, not evaluating people’s worth or expertise.
How much will participation cost?
The Cohort is facilitated by the people behind long-standing communities working at the intersection of equity, regeneration, decolonization, and responsible design. Is this online or in-person?
The Cohort will take place online, through synchronous gatherings. We will meet live as a group, creating the space for real-time exchange, connection, and collective imagination.
At what time will the sessions take place, and which timezone will you follow?
We will shape the cohort schedule together to accommodate different time zones and availability as much as possible. Final session times will be agreed once the cohort has been formed.
If I apply, what am I committing to?
By applying, you are expressing your interest in joining this collective journey. There is no financial commitment at this stage, and your application does not require you to participate.
If the Cohort moves forward, we will share the final details and confirm your participation before the journey begins.
What happens after we finish?
Your work travels with you. Outputs from all cohorts converge in a shared space where you maintain control over visibility. We actively seek exhibitions, publications, and partnerships with local organizations so the work reaches people beyond the program itself. Many participants remain connected as part of a wider network committed to meaningful change.
